2020 Flu Vaccine Trend

2020 Flu Vaccine Trend

Pandemic concerns are driving patients to increase consumption of Influenza vaccines in 2020.

While many hope to breathe a sigh of relief that 2020 is nearing its end, increased consumption of the flu vaccine shows avoidance of illness is top of mind with patients.

In fact, anonymized Medusind data shows that flu vaccine consumption is up 29% year over year.  Medusind’s data set mirrors that of national data provided by IQVIA’s Institute for Human Data Science which showed a significant increase in flu shots administered from August – October.

“COVID-19 has undoubtedly brought attention to the flu vaccine industry” stated Suzanne Lonidier, Medusind VP of Service Delivery. She continued, “While the upward trend of patients getting the flu vaccine over the last several years shows an increased awareness around the benefits of the flu shot, the feedback from our clients has been that patients are hyper aware of the risks of contracting the flu during an ongoing global pandemic.”

Experts are recommending patients get both a flu shot and, when available to you, a COVID-19 shot.
